Description
Sterling silver wide cuff bracelet, measuring 3/16 inch thick by a bit more than 13/16 inch wide, 2 1/2 inches across the inside and 1 3/4 inches at the opening of the base. The bracelet weighs 50 pennyweights. Marked on the inside band with the copyright mark "c", "Reinhardt", "Handwrought", and "Sterling" (for Richard H. Reinhardt 1921-1998, of Newtown Square, PA, a master silversmith who headed the industrial design department of the Philadelphia College of Art in the 1960's and is now represented in several museum collections), with the presentation in individually die-struck letters "....Cindy Reinhardt..." and the date "8.26.93". There are tiny nicks on the high decoration on the band face, fine scratches generally, a dark tarnish stain at the maker's mark, and some abrasions at the sharper bends of the interior face of the bracelet, otherwise in good condition. It seems quite likely that this bracelet was made as a personal presentation piece by Richard Reinhardt - it is intriguing to conjecture the relationship of
the silversmith to
Cindy Reinhardt
and the date "8.26.93"
. We are now listing for sale on eBay another bracelet acquired in the same group of jewelry
also
by Reinhardt with similarly die-struck letter presentation "Merry Christmas 1980" and
the initials "H.S.R."
as well as a "Taho" wire twist cuff bracelet acquired in the same group of jewelry.
